Open Access (OA) Publishing for Faculty: Finding OA Research Materials

Answers to frequently asked questions about how the Library can support AUC faculty in open access publishing.

How Do I Find Open Access Research Materials?

Open Access Journals

Open Access (OA) journals are now found within almost any database or journal collection. There are also publisher sites that feature OA journals. See the attached list.

Cambridge Journals (we are part of a new transformative agreement with them)

Lever Press

Open Access Books (eBooks)

Open Access (OA) books have been a little slower coming than journals but they are now a standard feature of the research landscape. Most major publishers now publish OA books and feature them in their packages and on their web sites. See the attached list for some publishers’ sites that feature them.

The Library is providing faculty access to a tool created by EBSCO called Faculty Select. Faculty members please contact your Library Subject Specialist for more information.

Faculty Select is a new product from EBSCO, and Woodruff is an early adopter. They will be making enhancements in the future, such as making it accessible via OpenAthens authentication, and adding more libraries of Open Access materials.  One you are in Faculty Select, you can search by Keyword, Title, or Author. You have some options available on the left navigation pane:

If you select eBooks Available for Purchase, our Acquisitions department will get an email with your request.
