Digital Storytelling: Blogs

This guide providesinformational tips and resources that will help one get started with digital storytelling

Blogs

The term "blog" is an abbreviated form of "weblog."

Blogs contain written information called posts that are generally displayed with the most recent posts listed at the top of a blog page. Blogs provide one of the easiest ways to facilitate interactive discussions and exchange ideas and viewpoints online.

The major types of blogs are:

  •  private blogs - only the person who created the blog can post;
  • public blogs - anyone who can access the blog can post new messages or reply to existing posts; and
  • invitation blogs - the blog administrator invites a selected list of people to participate in the blog and can also decide if the invitees can make new posts or simply reply to existing posts that have already been made.
