Jacob Lawrence Exhibit: Primary Sources

"Jacob Lawrence and The Legend of John Brown” will be on display at the AUC Woodruff Library from October 1 - 31, 2011. It is comprised of 22 digital images of silkscreen artwork created from paintings and prints by the celebrated artist Jacob Lawrence

John Brown Collection

The Robert W. Woodruff Library Archives Research Center houses many artifacts surrounding John Brown in

The John Brown Collection 1814-1859

This collection consists of 1.5 boxes or 0.5 linear feet. The bulk of the collection consists of correspondence between John Brown and his wife and children, as well as letters from F.B. Sanborn, a fellow abolitionist, and Seth Thompson, a business associate. The collection also contains materials related to the capture of John Brown after his raid at Harper’s Ferry and a check signed by Brown. There is a small collection of correspondence, writings and artifacts from Judge Richard Parker who presided over John Brown’s trial as well.
