Bloomberg Terminal Research Guide: FINANCE LAB

hours of operation

Below are the Bloomberg Finance Lab hours of operation for the fall/spring semesters. During the summer semester the Bloomberg Finance Lab opens at 9:00 a.m. Monday-Friday and closes 30 minutes prior to the library building closing. During midterm and final examination periods the Bloomberg Finance Lab will be open 24 hours when the library building is operating 24 hours. Library Hours of Operation

eligibility for access

The Bloomberg Finance Lab is strictly for current Atlanta University Center students, faculty, and staff who are conducting legitimate research on the Bloomberg Terminal for educational purposes.

user check-in process

All AUC affiliates are required to read the Bloomberg Finance Lab User Agreement Form and sign the Bloomberg Finance Lab User Agreement Log as acknowledgement of their understanding about lab policies and procedures. Failure to comply with the following policies procedures may result in loss of the ability to use the lab.

  • Food and beverages are NOT permitted in the lab.
  • The noise level within the lab should remain conducive to a working environment as determined by RWWL staff. The rooms are not soundproof.
  • Room occupancy should not exceed the number of workstations available for use.
  • Upon your departure, Bloomberg terminals and areas surrounding the workstation must be left neat and orderly.
  • Proprietary literature and documentation on how to use Bloomberg terminals are AUC Robert W. Woodruff Library property and must remain in the lab, unless they are personally issued to you by a member of the Library staff.
  • Users are responsible for paying for any damage caused to Bloomberg terminals and/or workstation furniture. Users may incur replacements costs if damage to equipment or furniture is not deemed consistent with normal wear and tear.
  • Technology issues should be promptly reported to the Information Services Desk during regular business hours or the Librarian-on-Duty during evenings and on weekends.

usage restrictions

Unless major circumstances arise, Bloomberg terminals are generally inaccessible from home or off-library. Therefore users must come in and use the terminals on-site. Bloomberg terminals are also available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Use of a Bloomberg terminal is strictly for educational purposes only.

Do not use Bloomberg terminals for commercial use. Use of Bloomberg terminals for commercial purposes will result in Bloomberg terminating our services.

class sessions

THIS SERVICE IS AVAILABLE ON SITE ONLY.

Faculty who would like to schedule Bloomberg terminal instruction sessions for a class must contact the Business Librarian at least 10 days in advance of the desired training date. Please provide a syllabus as part of the scheduling arrangement.

Note: Faculty requiring their students to use a Bloomberg terminal to complete an assignment are asked to provide the Business Librarian a copy of the assignment, including details about student expectations.

special events and lab reservations

Requests for reserving the lab for reasons other than holding formal class sessions would require contacting the Business Librarian first. Upon approval of request, faculty advisors shall be present at the event - no exceptions.
