Interlibrary Loan: Using Other Libraries

This guide is an overview of the interlibrary loan service.

Inter Library Use for AUC Faculty

Before issuing an ARCHE card to any AUC Faculty, the library will must first check to determine if the user has an active RWWL barcode and is in good standing with the Library. Library users who are not in good standing (i.e. owe fines and/or failed to return materials) are ineligible to receive ARCHE Card privileges. All ARCHE Card holders must have a valid campus ID.

Full-time faculty/staff may be granted interlibrary use privileges for an academic year, and a maximum of two libraries.

Adjunct faculty members may only be granted privileges for the current semester.

  • Information on back of ARCHE Card
    • Each ARCHE Card issued is valid for only one participating library. Additional cards may be issued to faculty members for a maximum of two libraries.
    • ARCHE Cards can only be issued by reference librarians.
  • Borrower's Identification - A faculty or staff member must show his/her current ID card, including a picture ID, when presenting the ARCHE Card. ARCHE Cards are issued to individuals and are not transferable.
  • Individual Library Regulations
    • Each library reserves the right to establish its own rules and regulations governing the use and circulation of materials. This may include limiting the number of volumes that can be charged out and/or restricting the use of certain materials.
    • Each borrower shall be responsible for identifying and observing the rules and regulations of the visited library.
    • Faculty members are not entitled to special privileges or extended loan periods at other institutions.

At the same time, a copy of the invoice of the outstanding obligations will be sent to the contact person at the home institution.
    • Fees assessed for outstanding obligations will be added to the borrower's library account at the home institution.
    • When a borrower satisfies obligations at a lending institution, he/she will receive a Uniform Clearance Voucher or receipt to present to the home institution.
