Library Barcode

All Library users must obtain a Library barcode in order to exercise borrowing privileges. A Library barcode will be issued to users presenting the following types of identification:

  • AUC students, faculty, and staff - a valid picture ID card from one of our member institutions.
  • AUC alumni - a valid picture ID card issued by the alumni's home institution.
  • Visitors - a valid driver' s license or picture ID. Visitors will be issued a Visitor's Badge.

Checking Out Materials

Library materials may be borrowed from the Robert W. Woodruff Library by bringing the items to the Circulation Desk during library hours along with your library Barcode.  If you need assistance finding items, please ask at the Circulation or Information Desk.

Materials from the main collections may be checked out for 28 days. Course reserve materials may be checked out for two hours and may be requested for an additional two hours if there are no pending requests.

Returning material

Library material may be returned at the Circulation Desk during operating hours. If the Library is closed, material can be placed in the book return that is outside of the library main entrance.

Renewing Materials

Library materials may be renewed twice if a "hold" has not been placed on the item.Items must be renewed on or before the due date. Materials cannot be renewed if they have been recalled or placed on hold by another patron, if the borrower has a delinquent Interlibrary Loan item(s), or any other outstanding fees due to the Library. As a courtesy, overdue notices are sent to borrowers after the loan period has expired. Users are responsible for all fines and fees whether or not a notice is received.

 Patrons may renew books online if they are not overdue. A Library barcode is required to complete the transaction. Log on to My Library Account and select the "Renew Items" option from the menu.

 Materials that are overdue or have been renewed twice online must be taken to the Library's circulation desk for processing.
