AUC Faculty Virtual Services: Electronic Course Reserves

Electronic Reserves

The Library’s e-reserves service offers electronic access to class reading materials (journal articles, book chapters, videos, etc.) through the library’s online catalog. Students are able to access the readings from any computer capable of accessing the network. Materials submitted for e-reserves must comply with copyright guidelines

Access to Electronic Course Reserves

Course Reserves are supplementary materials that faculty make available to their students in the library and online. Examples of course materials that may be available for the 2023 Summer Session include e-books, book chapters, journal articles, homework assignments, case studies, etc. Materials placed on reserve must be in accordance with copyright law and fair use. Course reserve materials may require copyright permission for use in subsequent semesters. All materials placed on course reserves (electronic or media materials) will be available for use by library users for the current semester only.

Print Course Reserve Materials

Physical course reserves are also available for the spring semester.

Unfortunately, not all requested course materials will have a digital version available at the Library. In these cases, the Library will do a fair use assessment to determine if a portion of your requested course materials can be made available through digitization.  The Library is generally willing to scan a single chapter from a book or a single article from a journal issue as a presumptively fair use. Please contact your Subject Librarian to make arrangements or for additional assistance.

Students may access items placed on course reserves by logging in to their Library account and clicking on the Course Reserves link.
