AUC Faculty Virtual Services: Virtual Services

The Atlanta University Center (AUC) Robert W. Woodruff Library is committed to providing exceptional virtual support to all faculty and students enrolled at AUC institutions throughout the 2023 Spring Semester (January 18 - May 12). Our goal is to provide you with access to the most relevant current and retrospective information both in person and in the virtual environment, where applicable. We'd love to receive your feedback, please share your comments here.

  • Schedule virtual research consultation appointments to get help with your teaching and/or research
  • Use the Library’s electronic Course Reserve system to put required reading materials on reserve for your classes
  • Use the Library’s Interlibrary Loan (ILL) Management System to request electronically accessible items not owned by the Library
  • Access electronic collections and databases
  • Make requests for the purchase of e-books and streaming videos (e.g. Kanopy, Avon streaming services, etc.)
  • Request e-document delivery
  • Invite your subject librarian or an archivist to participate in your course via Zoom
  • Request assistance with teaching technologies (e.g. podcasting, blogs, oral histories, online primary resources, digital humanities, etc.

Virtual Support for Your Teaching and Research

A subject librarian has been assigned to provide virtual instructional and information support services for each degree program offered by our member institutions. Subject librarians are available to support your study and research by providing:

  • Request formal and informal virtual instruction on how to use information resources for individuals or small group clusters via online instructional platforms here.
  • Request formal and informal individual or group virtual instruction for archival and primary resources (make an appointment to invite an archivist to partner with you on your course). Make a request here.
  • Formal and informal individual or group virtual instruction (make an appointment to invite your subject librarian and/or archivist to partner with you on your course)
  • Designated virtual office hours (make an appointment with your subject librarian in your course management system)
  • Request citation verifications from your subject librarian
  • Research Guides are electronic pathfinders to assist library users in locating appropriate information resources. A research guide has been developed for each degree program offered by AUC member institutions
  • Request virtual reference or research support for individuals or small group clusters using the following online platforms:

Spring Semester Hours of Virtual Information Services Delivery

  • Monday – Thursday: 9:00 AM – 9:00 PM
  • Friday: 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM
  • Sunday: 12:00 PM - 8 PM 

Access to Print Library Materials

A Library barcode is required to check out materials from the Library’s collection. To obtain a Library barcode please email or call (404) 978-2097. Valid campus ID credentials are required for registration. After a barcode has been issued, the next step is to establish your online Library account here. Input your barcode and click on the SET/RESET PASSWORD button. You will be emailed a link to establish your password.

Parking Lot Pick Up Service

In order to provide greater access to AUC Library resources, a contactless pickup service is being provided for certain items located in the Library's physical collection. Detailed instructions are provided below.

  • Available items include the Main Upper Level and Educational Resource Center books
  • Pickup times are Monday through Thursday from 10:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m.
  • Holds must be placed by 3:00 pm the day before the requested pickup date. (Instructions for placing items on hold below)
  • Limit 10 items per Parking Lot Pickup transaction
  • Click here to schedule a time for pickup
  • Requested items will be held at the pickup location for 1 week. After that time, they will be returned to the shelf.
