AUC Undergraduate Student Virtual Services: Archives

Archives Research Center Support

The Archives Research Center's holdings include rare books, manuscript collections, digital collections, and materials documenting the Atlanta University Center schools, as well as the African American and African Diasporic Experience. The core of our manuscript holdings are built upon the Atlanta University Trevor Arnett Library's Negro Collection. Under the auspices of the Atlanta University Center Robert W. Woodruff Library, the archival and manuscript holdings continue to develop and expand. These resources contain letters, photographs, writings, yearbooks, programs, minutes, and much more. To learn more about the Archives Research Center visit our research guide at https://research.auctr.edu/GeneralArchives

Although the Archives Research Center is not accepting appointments for physical research at this time, please be aware that Archivists are still available to assist with your virtual research needs on a limited basis.

Do you need further assistance navigating digital archival resources? We can help! We have archivists who can assist you in navigating all of the library’s resources and working with you to search digital collections, online exhibits, finding aids and more. Just contact us to schedule a virtual reference appointment.

The Archives Research Center will continue to provide supplemental virtual services. These services are outlined below:

Virtual Reference Services:

  • If you are aware of specific information and/or materials needed in order to conduct your research, (i.e collection name, series information, and/or box and folder numbers of collections that you may wish to research) an archivist will be able to research your inquiry, and provide you with an assessment of next steps available. This assessment will measure both the content as well as the amount of staff time that will be needed in order to full fill your specific request. Please note that some inquires may not be able to be completed depending on the materials/information requested. Please contact the Archives Research Center staff directly at archives@auctr.edu for more information. Please allow our staff 72 business hours for the initial assessment.
  • In some instances, patrons are also able to request virtual office hours with an archivist to discuss in-depth reference inquires and resources available as well as small tutorials on how to access our digital collections.  In order to schedule please contact the Archives Research Center at archives@auctr.edu
